Ethnography Reflective Post

It was not that difficult to figure out what to write and what to put in the photo montage. I sat down and just thought about how and why people write what they write on the whiteboards. I think it was easy for me because I always find myself thinking about why others do what they do. When I was writing out what to say I originally wrote what I was going to say, and then I went back through and read it. When I was reading it I would edit certain sections that did not sound just right. One thing I think our group struggled with was communicating with each other, but when it came down to it we got it done and I think we did a pretty good job. Next time I would exchange numbers because that is a more direct way to get in contact with someone rather than email or other methods. It was not hard to create a non essay because in previous blog posts I have experimented with presenting ideas in different forms. Which is good because when I first tried doing videos it was hard, and took a long time. When I was working on the ethnography project though it came together pretty quickly and was not hard at all. I think this was good project because it forced us to experiment with expressing ideas in a different way, and also it forced us to collaborate with others.

  1. Hi Jeremy, Your expertise in video crafting is really tremendous. The voiceover you used worked really well. The particular emphasis you had on including your research data through the many photos of white boards really connected your ideas to what you noticed in your field work. I saw you also weaving description of what you had noticed with your analysis. This worked out well.

  2. Jeremy, I loved your topic on whiteboards. They are very common in college dorms, but I've never stopped to think about the literacy underlife connected to them. Awesome video too by the way! I liked your voice-over.
