Reflective Blog Post Writing Timeline

Reflective Blog Post Writing Timeline

After creating my writing timeline I realized something. I realized that most of the timeline is not about me writing except for one. Most of the events are about reading which I think there's a hard connection between the two. I believe how much you read can almost directly translate to how good of a writer. Now that I think about it neither are the same, yes they have to do with words and English. Each are two different arts though. Writing requires creativity and focus, yet reading requires focus and dedication. They are two completely different mind sets. I think of myself as a good reader, but  a terrible writer. I can never seem to find the inspiration for writing long interesting stories or papers. The video if it works shows you my own personal timeline dealing with writing, but if it does not work just use this My Prezi Writing Timeline. Thank you for reading my blog until next time.

  1. This prezi is so cool!! I love prezi, anyway, but the way you have "mined" this sketch from your daybook and expanded it here with the zoom function is totally wicked. I love it! I just shared it with some of my colleagues.

And, your thinking here about reading and writing here is intriguing. This is something you might want to dig into more this semester. Something I have been thinking about is how reading can be creative. Below is link to an article about creative reading. It's long, but just browse it. https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BwM_mqgmQbT3bnNzNm5wTUxsM1U

  2. For me, writing and reading always seemed to go hand in hand. I realized that my writing skills increased when I took up an interest in reading, so I always thought that it helped me. I guess I understand what you're saying here though. They are two separate things. Anyone can read a book, but to be able to write and write well, someone has to have that creative mindset.

    1. I also think of reading and writing differently. I can always get lost in a good book if it interests me but I can never seem to write a story. I used to think I didn't have an imagination because someone told me to use my imagination to write but I couldn't.
